From Thursday, June 26 to 26, 2024, female tech practitioners under the aegis of the Nigeria Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT), an interest group of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), will be in Osun State for the 9th National Conference and 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The two-day event aims to empower young girls and women with relevant digital and other skills that can bridge the digital gender gap in the country in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.

The theme of the event, Empowering Women in Tech: Shaping the Future through Innovation and Collaboration was designed to check the challenges faced by women in the sector.

The NIWIIT conference will focus on women in technology and cultivating mutually beneficial networks between industry, academia and government.

In a statement signed by the president of NIWIIT, Mrs Dele Bayo-Osibo, she said, “The NIWIIT, Annual Conference celebrates the crucial role women play in driving technological innovation, economic growth, and societal change.

“Despite significant progress, gender disparities remain in the tech sector, with women underrepresented in leadership, entrepreneurship, and technical fields.”

“The NIWIIT Annual Conference offers a premier platform for women to discuss challenges, share success stories, and strategize on overcoming barriers in the tech industry.

“NIWIIT aims to support, develop, recognize, and promote the achievements of women in the technology industry via relevant events, mentoring, programs, awards, and networks.

“NIWIIT is committed to being distinguished as a professional and credible organization,” she further said.
