“Livelihood Enhancement Skill Development Training Programme for Women Farmers on Jute Bags Making” concludes at ICAR-NAARM

The five-day Training Programme on “Enhancing Livelihood of Women Farmers with Skill-based Training on Jute Bag Making” in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ghantasala, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh from 16th to 20th, March, 2022 concluded today.

The programme was organized for the farmers of 4 Villages, viz., Kuchhikayalapudi, Ramanapudi, Ghantasala and Thadepalli from Krishna District.

Delivering the valedictory address, the Chief Guest, Dr. T. Neeraja, Dean Community Science), apprised the trainees about making the different kinds of Jute Gunny Bags as an income generation activity apart from their regular agricultural activities.

Earlier, in his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad highlighted the harmful effects of using the plastic bags and plastic materials, their effects on soil health, human health and environmental pollution. The opportunities for biodegradable natural fibres and their benefits to the soil and environment were also underlined by Dr. Rao.

The Guest of Honor, Shri V. Asha Kiran, IMC and RAC Member, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad urged the farmers for utilizing the training programme.

Dr. G. Venkateshwarlu, Joint Director, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad stressed on the need to preserve the natural resources by using all the biodegradable materials.

Dr. V. Prasuna, Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ghantasala delivered the welcome address.

A total of 32 Women Farmers were trained on the aspects of Jute Bag Making”.
