PEACCEP, Partners Launch Training to Support Women-led CSOs’ Climate Leadership | News

The Partnership for Environmental Action on Climate Change and Ecosystem Protection (PEACCEP) Liberia Inc., in collaboration with Baastel and Climate Action Africa (CAA), is set to launch a groundbreaking capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening the climate leadership of women-led Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Liberia.

The workshop, titled “Capacity Building Training on Mainstreaming Gender in Climate Dialogue and Actions in Liberia,” will take place on June 24-25, 2024, at the Lutheran Compound Conference room in Sinkor, Monrovia. A second training of another 15 participants will take place in Kakata, Margibi County from June 27-June 28 at Survivors Aid International.

The two-day workshop will focus on mainstreaming gender into climate action and enhancing the leadership capacities of women-led CSOs in Liberia. The agenda includes expert presentations, interactive group activities, and case studies designed to foster a comprehensive understanding of climate change, gender concepts, climate policy, and advocacy.

Baastel’s technical assistance aims to empower women’s and youth CSOs to effectively advocate for gender-responsive climate policies, engage in climate dialogue processes, and assume leadership roles in climate action. By building the capacity of these groups, the initiative seeks to ensure more inclusive and equitable participation in climate policy formulation and implementation in Liberia.

CAA has engaged Baastel, a Canadian international development consulting firm, to provide expert facilitation in collaboration with the Partnership for Environmental Actions on Climate Change and Ecosystem Protection (PEACCEP) in Liberia.
