Say hello to Working Women Stories. In this first episode in our series, your host Jessica Rivelli, the founder of Working Women of Tampa Bay, brings Michelle Turman, CEO of Catalyst Consulting Services to the studio.
Michelle Turman, MA, CFRE
Turman has tried her hand at nearly every role in a nonprofit. Her experience pushed her to launch Catalyst five years ago, where she’s sought to solve three basic problems common to nonprofits. She found that many nonprofits have: poor hiring practices (especially in the C-suite), no solid infrastructure for growth, and transactional rather than relational fundraising.
Turman took those three problems and treated them as pipelines, seeking to help struggling nonprofits with challenges like fundraising, operating like a business, and lessening the duplication of services common to so many nonprofits. Now she helps nonprofits throughout Tampa Bay tackle these problems and others, and she’s actively working to change the conversation around nonprofit work and what its future will look like.
Rivelli and Turman talk about the why behind founding Catalyst Consulting Services, and its work as a turn-key business supporting nonprofits. Catalyst Consulting Services does everything from executive searches, organizational management and capital campaigns to special events, grant writing and executive coaching.
